ChristinaAbout Me

I received a B.A. in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte in 1997 and earned my Rolfing certification from the Rolf Institute in Boulder, CO in 2003.  Before becoming a  Rolfer, I worked in human services, working with a wide variety of people with special needs.   I grew up outside of Washington DC in Springfield, Virginia and lived in Boston for the last 8 years.  I have recently moved back to Charlotte to return to my southern roots. I am a member of the Rolf Institute and the International Association for Structural Integrators (IASI).

Why I Became a Rolfer

The life-altering experience of my 10 Series is what led to my decision to become a Rolfer.   Prior to being Rolfed, I had no idea that there was something out there that could connect my body and mind.   I had always heard about the “mind-body” connection but I had never felt it.   At the age of six, I started playing softball.   I played all through high school and was offered a scholarship to play in college.   During those 16 years, I never paid attention to the effects playing sports had on my body.  I remember playing when I was injured and not thinking about the repercussions it would have on my body.   The thought of sitting out a game to heal my body was out of the question.   My body was clearly injured and I was in pain, but my mind kept focusing on playing the game.   I decided to try Rolfing because of intense shoulder pain due to my years of playing softball.   I also hoped that I could learn how to relax my body.   I felt changed forever after my first session.   I drove home crying and laughing wondering what was going on.   I thought that if something could change me in less than a day, I had to find out more about it.   I felt that way then and I still feel that way now.   Rolfing addresses the whole package- the physical and the emotional.   Rolfing offers me alternative ways to deal with my body and emotions and I love sharing that with others. As a Rolfer, my goals are to improve people’s awareness of their own bodies by teaching more effective use of body structure and movement as they engage in their daily lives.

Testimonials from clients

I have been working with Christina to realign my body to support the exercise program that I started about six months ago.  The Rolfing experience has made a significant contribution to my exercise program and without it I would not be where I am in it today.

The ten Rolfing sessions with Christina were a wonderful experience.  The sessions uncovered and loosened some knots and tensions that I wasn't even aware of.  I am more aware of my posture and body position.  I hope to be able to return for additional sessions.

From the first session with Christina, I found that she not only helped me increase the awareness of my own body, but that she helped me to recognize and correct the dysfunctional patterns that I had developed in my attempt to side-step my pain.  I also found that with each session the pain that had become so familiar not only subsided, but diminished all together.  It has been 6 months since I completed the 10 sessions and I continue to be comfortable and fluid to the point that I have almost forgotten how uncomfortable I use to be.  I believe that because Christina was open with me about the work that would be done in each session and how that would impact my body, I am now able to self-correct my behavior when I find myself slipping into the old routines that had created the pain I no longer need or have in my life. Thank you!!!!!
